The Trophy Room

Welcome to the glory wall. Three decades of SMART have produced a small mountain of records, near-misses, legendary catches, and stories that have absolutely no business being true but are. This is where we hang them: the Hall of Fame, the numbers nobody else will ever touch, the curiosities that still come up around the fire, and the moments that earned a permanent place in the books.

30 Tournaments through 2026 · 71 Anglers all-time · 4 Generations of Stonebergers · 1 Master Baiter Sweep, ever

Once in 30 Years The Rarest Achievement

The Master Baiter Sweep

One angler sweeps all three traditional awards in a single weekend:
First Fish · Most Fish · Biggest Fish.

Jacob Stoneberger Jr 1997 · Green Mountain Reservoir

The founding tournament. One small, skinny, ugly walleye — the only fish caught that weekend — earned all three awards by default and the title that no one else has earned since.

Record-Adjacent

Curiosities

Not single-tournament records, but the same neighborhood — moments and numbers worth keeping on the wall.

  1. 470
Most fish across one weekend's board. 2023, Teal Lake, the camping year. Of those, Jim caught 111 himself.
  2. 5:35am
Earliest cast on record. Stony Stoneberger, 2011, at age 81. The sunrise has been trying to beat it ever since.
  3. 283
The unbeatable number. Even a blind angler finds a fish every once in a while, even one big enough to have its own zip code. In 2014, R.B. Barton landed a 33-inch, 240-ounce lake monster, the largest single fish in SMART history, and rode that beast to a 283-point weekend that still sits at the top of the board.
  4. 20
Stony's run. Every SMART from the founding to his last, 1997 to 2015. The first-place trophy carries his name.
  5. The memorial line. Stony's honorary entry has appeared on every leaderboard since March 2017. The symbol changed to ∞ in 2019.
